"I just think that the NFL sold out and it's very sad," added Zarin, 62, who said she feltthe showwas a political statement against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Critics have characterizedBad Bunny's performanceas a tribute to hishome island of Puerto Rico, a territory of the United States, and its musical influence in New York, where a large portion of the diaspora lives.
In a statement toThe Hollywood Reporter, the show's production company, Blink49 Studios, confirmed Zarin's firing.
"In light of recent public comments made by Jill Zarin, Blink49 Studios has decided not to move forward with her involvement in 'The Golden Life.' We remain committed to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values," they said. USA TODAY has reached out to Blink49 for comment.
In a statement provided toInTouchmagazine, Zarin lamented the swift move.
"They didn't even give me a chance. I took it down right away," she told the outlet. "People make mistakes. I'm human."
